While springtime is notorious for farmers' markets, several in Northern Virginia are open year-round with fresh seasonal produce and additional goods.

You likely have a local market nearby, but there are many to explore in our area, and it's a fantastic way to shop locally. As a note, several local farmers' markets don't permit pets, except service animals, so it's best to check before you go.

Arlington Farmers' Market

The Arlington County Farmers' Market runs year-round and has numerous vendors, including Capitol Kettle Corn & Popcorn, House of Empanadas, Impasta Gluten-Free, Mac's Donuts, Three Puppies Treats, and much more.

Since you can get freshly prepared foods at the market, you can make a day out of it and eat lunch while exploring.

It's best to check their website for the most up-to-date lists of vendors and in-season produce.

Location: 1400 N Courthouse Rd, Arlington, VA 22201

Dates/Hours: Main season Saturdays from April - December 8 am - 12 pm

Winter season Saturdays from January - March 9 am - 12 pm

Columbia Pike Farmers' Market

Various vendors include Grace's Pastries, Hog Haven Farm, Penn Farm, Roots 'n Shoots, Smith Meadows, Taste of Eurasia, Twin Springs Fruit Farm, and Westmoreland Produce.

Hog Haven Farm is known for its famous breakfast sandwiches, and they have previously been available as a grab-n-go item, so you don't want to miss a chance for this delicious meal.

You can also pre-order online from various vendors for on-site pickup.

Rosslyn Farmers' Market

The Rosslyn Farmers' Market has been around since 2017 and hosts vendors like Family of Nuts, Early Bird Cheesecakes, Diaz Berries and Veggies, Tae-Gu Kimchi, and Roggenart.

It's the perfect market for an evening stroll while supporting local businesses and farmers. In addition, it's close to the Rosslyn metro station if you are coming from afar.

Dates/Hours: Wednesdays, May - October from 3 pm - pm

Westover Farmers' Market

For over 10 years, the Westover Farmers' Market has served the Arlington area with fresh foods, produce, plants, meats, eggs, bakery items, and plenty of snacks for the whole family.

The market is situated alongside the Westover Library, post office, Wells Fargo Bank, and Cardinal Elementary. McKinley road shuts down to allow shoppers access to various vendors like Cold Country Salmon, Dimitri Olive Farms, Hog Haven Farm, Little Austria, Mama's Donut Bites, and Twin Springs Fruit Far.

Reston Farmers' Market

The Reston Farmers' Market is situated in the Lake Anne Village Center and has plenty of fresh produce, dairy products, meats/seafood, flowers/plants, baked homemade goods, and eggs to choose from.

Past vendors have included Blue Ridge Dairy, Fresh Crunch, Greenheart Juices, Honey Brook Farm, Kiwi Kuisine, Penn Farm, Reid's Orchard, Smith Family Farm, and Toigo Orchards.

McCutcheon/Mount Vernon Farmers' Market

The farmers' market in Mount Vernon is a great weekday activity and is home to fantastic vendors like Arnest Seafood, Grace's Pastries, Great Harvest Bread Company, Linda Vista Farm, Ochoa Produce, The Big Brine, The Fermented Pig, and Three Way Farms.

Many vendors allow preorders for easy pick-up, so it's best to check the official site for more information.

Burke Farmers' Market

The Burke Farmers' Market is located a few miles from Lake Barton, so families can pick up some fresh food at the market and have a picnic at the lake.

The market is home to vendors like Beechwood Orchards, Bites by Sam, 78 Acres, Honey Brook Farms, Lovely Macaroons, Layla's Lebanese Restaurant, Loza Pastry, Metro Microgreens, Pickle Factory, and Smith Family Farm.

McLean Farmers' Market

If the kids are off school on a Friday, you'll want to head to McLean for fresh produce and other goods.

The McLean Farmers' Market is located at Lewinsville Park, and while it's smaller than other markets, it still hosts various vendors like Family of Nuts, F.J. Medina & Son Farm, Green Planet Farms, Luke & Son for Global Food, and Qualia Coffee Roasters.

Herndon Farmers' Market

The Herndon Farmers' Market is quaint but still offers visitors an array of produce, meats, bakery items, coffee, spices, salsas, and other goodies to bring home.

Past vendors have included Beanstalk, Bites by Sam, Family of Nuts, J & W Valley View Farm, Mt Olympus Berry Farm, Rock Hill Honey Bee Farms, and Sip Coffee Inc.

Eat LoCo Farmers' Market

The Eat LoCo Farmers' Market at One Loudoun is considered the largest farmers market in Virginia and boasts over 100 vendors. You can check their official directory for a complete listing of vendors because you don't want to miss a single one.  

While the Loudoun market is the flagship location, there also are Eat LoCo Farmers' Markets in Loudoun Station, Brambleton, and Arlington.

Leesburg Farmers' Market

Located in the Virginia Village Shopping Center, the Leesburg Farmers' Market has an array of meats, fresh produce, bread, dairy, snacks, and more to fill a hungry stomach.  

Various vendors include Allder School Berries, Beechwood Orchards, Blue Ridge Dairy Co., Cannabreeze, Chef Elroy's Kickin Salsas, Lexi, and many more.

Gilbert's Corner

Another favorite farmers' market in Loudoun is Gilbert's Corner, which is situated at the intersection of routes 50 and 15 in Aldie. Visitors to Gilbert's Corner enjoy an array of vendors, including Angelic Beef, Bluemont Coffee, Nappe Catering, and The Salt Pot Kitchen.

Plenty of freshly prepared foods are available, so it's a great stop for lunch.

Cascades Farmers' Market

You can find the Cascades Farmers' Market in the parking lot of the senior center on Whitfield Drive in Sterling. The seasonal market is a great place to find bakery items, fresh produce, pet products, meats, and more.

Previous vendors have included Happy Crepe, Foggy Mountain Pasta, Chase Your Tail Bakery, Big Riggs Farm, Beechwood Orchards, and A Farm Less Ordinary.

Western Loudoun Farmers' Market

Located in Purcellville, the Western Loudoun Farmers' Market has hosted vendors like Brookies & Cookies, C. Hess Orchard & Produce, Cyro Candy, Liberty Hill Farm, Midnight Forest Farm, and the Joyful Penguin.

You can find the market at Firemens Field Park, which makes for a great Saturday afternoon activity with the whole family.

Prince William County

Haymarket Farmers' Market

The Haymarket Farmers' Market has grown over the past few years and is situated in the heart of downtown Haymarket. Past vendors have included Great Harvest Bread Company, Mad Magic Kombucha, multiple fresh produce stands, bakeries, Haymarket Coffee Company, and more.

There are also several vendors who sell fresh, hot foods, so ensure you bring your appetite. You can also find handmade products from local businesses, including jewelry, clothing, and candles.

Dale City Farmers' Market

The Dale City Farmers' Market is home to nearly 50 vendors who provide items like fresh-cut flowers, jams, baked goods, produce, and more. The market is located in the Dale City commuter lot, between the Center Plaza Shopping Center and the Comcast Building.

Winter Market, December 2022-March 26, 2023: 10 am-1 pm

City of Manassas Farmers' Market

The City of Manassas Farmers' Market was voted as one of the best markets in the area by Prince William Living Magazine. One of the best parts about the Manassas market is it runs year-long, so you can get fresh produce any time of year.

Visitors to the market can enjoy dairy products, beverages, meats, fresh produce, and artisan crafts and goods.  No dogs are allowed at the Manassas Farmers' Market, so ensure you keep your furry bestie at home.

Location: The Peak Season Market is held in the Harris Pavilion (9201 Center Street), and the Winter Market is held at the Prince William Commuter Lot (9024 Prince William St.)

Dates/Hours: Thursdays 8 am - 1 pm (Peak Season, until mid-November) Saturdays 8 am - 1 pm (Winter Market in December)

Prince William Farmers' Market

The Prince William Farmers' Market is newer to the scene and opened in 2022 with nearly 40 vendors. The market is located at Pfitnzer Stadium and offers baked goods, jellies, jams, fresh produce, and more.

If the location sounds familiar, it is the former home of the Dale City Farmers' Market, but when that market moved locations, residents asked for another market at the Pfitnzer Stadium.
